Extractive purification of hydro-treated gas oil with N-methylpyrrolidone
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purification of hydro-treated gas oil by liquid–liquid extraction with N-methylpyrrolidone as solvent was studied. The results showed that this method, under appropriate experimental conditions, reduced the sulphur content of the gas oil from 174 to 28 ppm, the nitrogen content was decreased from 58 to 15 ppm, the aromatics content was diminished from 27.1 to 13.8 % and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were totally extracted. The obtained refined gas oil could be used to produce clean diesel fuel, thus protecting the environment.
